Jeff Linsky and Michael Spiro join forces...

Villa Musica and
The Neurosciences Performing Arts Program
present

Improvisational Maestros Jeff Linsky and Michael Spiro will join as a "tour de force" at The Neurosciences Institute, 10640 John Jay Hopkins Drive, San Diego 92121, on Friday June 12th at 8pm.

This is a concert not to be missed. Jeff and Michael are both consummate soloists in their own rights but together they will wow San Diego audiences with their musical creativity and virtuosic style.

Linsky, a San Diego local, has played all over the world - literally.

"I have had the good fortune of performing in many of the world's finest concert halls, from the Sibelius Theater in Helsinki to the Esplanade Theater in Singapore. Because of my unique improvisational approach to the solo guitar, I have also been invited to present master classes and workshops at music schools around the world, including the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, The Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, State University of New York, Escola de Música e Tecnologia in São Paulo, the Sibelius Institute in Helsinki - the list goes on and on.

Privately, I have performed for Presidents and Royalty, even the Dalai Lama, as well as the poorest of the poor. We regularly visit the leprosy patients of Kalaupapa, the remote Hill Tribe People of Northern Thailand, and the "favelas" of Brazil. I've played with gypsies in Cologne, recorded with bossa nova legend Sergio Augusto in Sao Paulo, met and performed with many of my heroes - you get the idea. It has been a very rewarding, charmed life of musical adventures.
"

Villa Musica at Whole Foods

For the months of February, March and April this year Villa Musica is the recipient organization of Whole Food Market's Reuse - Recycle - Reward (RRR) program. Each time you shop at WFM remember to take your own bags and Villa Musica will receive 5 cents per bag of shopping.

During these months Villa Musica will also be collaborating with Whole Foods Market, La Jolla to present "music in the aisles" for special in store events. Valentines Day's chocolate and wine tasting was serenaded by Villa Musica's own Jude Weirmeir on classical guitar.

Make sure you swing by the store on Saturday March 14th (between 3-5pm) to hear the Villa Musica Flute Ensemble play a celtic flavored set for St. Patrick's Day!

Villa Musica's Newest String Players

Dr. Marta Blalock is a tour de force with this gaggle of four and five year olds as they grasp the beginning concepts of playing the violin. It is a 30 minute exploration into violin anatomy, discipline, note naming and rhythm structure. For you muso's out there - ever thought of 4 sixteenths and two eighths as "pepperoni pizza" pepperoni pizza" or how about introducing the triplet with "strawberry" "strawberry". Learning couldn't be more fun in this pint size class of little people expressing themselves with as much verve and abandon as they do in the playground.
Classes for the Spring Quarter will be posted at the Villa Musica website by March 1st.
